Consumer Directed Services (CDS) is a Medicaid-based program that offers personal care attendant (PCA) services. This program is intended to serve seniors and individuals with disabilities, helping them live independent and fulfilling lives.
CDS participants will be trained to hire attendants to assist them with daily living tasks, such as bathing, toileting, meal prep, and medication, among many other activities in their home setting of choice. Aside from hiring attendants, the participating individual also has the ability to direct their own care and supervise the attendant at no cost. The caregiver can be a friend or a family member, excluding a spouse or anyone under 18 years old.
